The Book of 2 Thessalonians 

Overview
- Author:    Apostle Paul
- What: Apostle Paul’s second letter to the church in Thessalonica
-When: 49-51 AD
-Where: Corinth
-Why: This letter corrects the church in Thessalonica because they believed that the Day of Lord had already came; Paul corrects them and tells them it has not come because the signs of the Day of the Lord have not occurred yet

Since Jesus was not directly speaking to anyone in conversation in the book of 2 Thessalonians, this section will remain as so.

The Trinity Shown:
1:1-2 = Father and Son
1:12 = God and Messiah
2:13-14 = God, Lord, Spirit
2:16 = unity between Father and Son
3:3 = the Lord strengthens us… how could He strengthen you after His death burial and resurrection if He was not God
3:5 = Lord here is the Spirit (2 Corinth. 3:17-18), directing us into the Father’s love and Christ’s perseverance
3:18 = who can give grace besides God

Notes

• The Man of Lawlessness is prophesied about in Daniel chapter 9, which is what Paul is discussing in 2:1-12.
• 2:8 forward points Revelation, and although not prophecy, reflects God in Job 4:9
• The word “Lord” given to Jesus, though a different royal title, can be used in the same way as Christ, which is Messiah. The Jewish New Testament translations can be seen instead of using the term, “Lord Jesus” can be applied as, “Messiah Jesus” which is important because the Messiah according to the Old Testament is God… this is worth noting throughout the whole New Testament every time Jesus is acknowledged as Lord.
