Is the Trinity Biblical?

Christians believe in the Holy Trinity... that God is 3 persons who are equally 1: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. One might say this is polytheism, another may say that this is a mystery, and still another may say that this is impossible and doesn't make sense. So, is the Trinity Biblical?

Genesis 1:1. states, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (NIV) The word God (Strong's H430) (1) here is a plural, masculine noun (a clue, indicating the Trinity in the first chapter and verse of the Bible)

Genesis 2:24 states, "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh." (NIV) and Deuteronomy 6:4, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one." (NIV).

In these two verses, the word, "one" is the same Hebrew word (Strong's H259) (1).

Although a man and woman become one in marriage, they are still 2 persons, and yet they are one. In Deuteronomy 6:4 the Israelites say that the LORD (YAHWEH/Jehovah) is Israel's God (Strong's H430 again the plural, masculine noun) and that He is one (Strong's H359) (1).

The same way the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit) consists of 3 distinct persons, in a like manner of a husband and wife being one, the Trinity is one.

Further Examination #1 (a few verses):

- In John 5:19, Jesus says He can do nothing by Himself, because He only does what the Father does
-Yet in John 10:30, Jesus says Him and the Father are one.
- This shows that the members of the Trinity work together, not apart from each other

So, what about the Holy Spirit?
Further Examination #2 (a few verses):

- Jesus says in John 14:16-17 that the Father will give believers another advocate, the Spirit of truth (Holy Spirit) indicating that Jesus, while on earth, was the advocate for believers.
- In John 25:26, Jesus states that God the Father will send the Advocate: God the Holy Spirit in the name of God the Son (Jesus)
